Everett “Vic” Knight
Vic has been a practicing appraiser since 1979 and became a Certified Appraiser in 1992 when appraisal licensing became mandatory due to Federal Regulatioins. Vic is a NC Certified General Real Estate Appraiser (the highest appraisal regulatory license category).
In addition to being a practicing professional appraiser for over 30 years, Vic has served as Chair of the National Association of REALTORS Appraisal Committee, he has served as a member of The Appraisal Foundation Advisory council (TAFAC) whhile chairing the Emerging Issues Committee. The Appraisal Foundation was authorized by Congress in 1989 out of FIRREA regulations to create and monitor the Appraisal Standards Board and the Appraisal Qualifications Board, which governs the 100,000 plus License and Certified Appraisers in the United States. Vic now serves on the Board of Trustees for The Appraisal Foundation.
Vic is a native of Burlington, NC and obtained a BS in Civil Engineering Construction Management from NCSU in 1976, and Worked Internationally for the Bechtel Corporation of San Francisco CA.
Vic is a member of the Hillsborough United Church of Christ and has volunteered to serve on numerous local civic organizations including Orange county Habitat for Humanity, Hillsborough JCs, Hillsborough Exchange Club, Daniel Boone Merchants Association, and the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce. He has also chaired several local community committees including the Orange County Regional Telephone Task Force, the Orange County Board of Equalization and Review, The Orange County Inspections Department Advisory Committee, and the Education Foundation for the Orange County Schools. Vic has also served for three years as a School Board member of Abundant Life Christian Academy, as its Finance Director. Vic served as a Trustee to the John’s River Camp in Boone, NC, past Professional Advisory member of Alamance Community College and as an advisory member of the Board of Directors of Hillsborough National Bank and as the Orange County Chair of the NC State Alumni Association.
Vic was Broker/Owner of Century 21 Vic Knight Realty in Hillsborough, NC for over 10 years, and currently owns and operates Chapel Hill Appraisals & Consultants. Vic has been a Licensed General Contractor in North Carolina, and currently is a NC State Certified General Appraiser for Residential & Commercial Properties and specializes in developing moderate and up-scale residential properties in Orange, Alamance, and Chatham Counties. Vic was President and CEO of TriPointe Management Corp. a full service Real Estate Property Management Company located in Chapel Hill, NC.
REALTOR® Involvement:
As a member of the Greater Chapel Hill Association of REALTORS®, Vic chaired the Participants Committee, The Education Committee, and the Personnel Committee. Vic has served as a Director of the Board of REALTORS and Multiple Listing Service, and as a NCAR Director. He is a past President of the Chapel Hill Board of Realtors (1991) and a Director of the Chapel Hill MLS. Vic was honored as “REALTOR of the Year” in Chapel Hill in 1991. He was a Director and the Treasurer of The Triangle Listing Service (TLS) serving on the original Board for over 16 years, including as Treasurer in 1995 and President in 1996 of The Triangle Multiple Listing Service (TMLS), and taught its Orientation Course. Vic has been an active supporter of REALTORS in Politics.
Vic Knight was the 1992 & 1993 chair of the NCAR MLS Subcommittee, and Vice-Chair of Internal Affairs in 1993. He chaired the 1994 NCAR Internal Affairs Committee, also serving on the committee in 1995. Vic served on the Convention Committee in 1993. Vic is the 1998 – 1999 NCAR Regional VP for Region #4; he served in NCAR Leadership for four years as NCAR Treasurer (Including Chair of Finance & Budget, Service Corporation, and Investment Committee). Vic served a NCAR President-Elect in 2004 and NCAR President in 2005. Vic Chaired the NCAR Square Footage Task Force providing REALTOR response to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s “Square Footage Guidelines.” Vic has given Professional Testimony before several State Regulatory Agencies, including The North Carolina Board of Equalization and Review, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, the North Carolina Appraisal Board and the North Carolina Board of Home Inspectors.
Vic is a (ITI) Certified Instructor from NCAR’s Instructor Training Institute and is a Continuing Education (CE) Instructor for the North Carolina Real Estate Commission and the North Carolina Appraisal Board “1999-2008 UpDate Course,” “Residential Square Footage Guidelines” and “Residential Construction Basics.”
Vic served as a national adviser to the REALTORS Information Network (RIN) for the formation of RIN’s first Charter Meeting in March 1995, and other RIN meetings through its dissolution in 1996. He was appointed by the NAR President and served on the PAG to write a “White Paper” for Member Services in 1995, which was presented to the NAR Directors in 1996.
Vic served a three-year term on NAR prestigious MLS Committee as the NCAR Representative (1999-2001)
Vic is an NAR Director for the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®.
Vic served as National Chair of the NAR Appraisal Committee in 2007 and National Vice-Chair in 2006.
Vic was the chair of the National Association of REALTORS® Re-Affiliation Task Force recommendation of re-affiliation with the Appraisal Institute (2007-2008).
Vic served on the NAR Nominating Committee in 2008.
Vic served a three-year term as one of 15 individuals on the NAR Finance Committee, managing the NAR yearly budget, and reserves totaling over $250 million, and served as Vice-Chair of the Strategic Investment Reserves Committee for NAR who manages NAR $100 million reserves
Vic was the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) designate representative appointee to The Appraisal Foundation Advisory Committee (TAFAC) having served a 3-year term through 2010 and chairing the Emerging Issues Sub-Committee in 2010.
